replicating outfits with your own wardrobe

Hello, dolls!

How are you all? I, yet again, neglected my blog on Monday AND Wednesday! But, not to fret. I am here with a Fashion Tip post! One of my favorite things to do is to get in bed at night, scroll through Pinterest and find some fashion inspiration. Sometimes, it’s just a shirt that I really like with a really cute necklace that I can replicate with my own pieces. Sometimes, it’s a pant/shoe combination. And SOMETIMES it’s a full outfit inspiration. From these late night Pinterest sessions, I’ve been able to build some of my favorite/best go to outfits! I wanted to share with you a few tips on how to get inspiration and use your wardrobe to replicate it without buying the specific pieces.

I’m going to go in depth on the 5 basic steps of outfit building, starting with the picture itself!

1) Find an outfit to replicate.

For this, I suggest pinterest. Simply by clicking “Women’s fashion” you basically open up a world of clothing lust. Which, isn’t always the best thing, but it can definitely ignite some of those fashion creative juices! Here are a few I recently pinned and have yet to replicate.

Step 2) Try to strip down the outfit in the picture to it’s backbone.
{i.e.} graphic t-shirt, cardigan, jean shorts, purse.
By stripping it down and doing this you are positioning yourself so you can replicate this outfit without being too stuck on wanting your outfit to look just like hers.
PLUS, everyone has different body types, so if you DID have the same pieces as her, don’t expect it to look the same.

Step 3) Finding the perfect pieces.
The next step is, drum roll please, your closet. There is a 99.9% chance that you will NOT have pieces in your wardrobe that look identical to this. But, your job is to find clothing items that are similar. Perhaps its the white graphic tee from Forever 21, or the shirt with a minnie mouse silhouette on it that you love so much for outfit #1. Make sure the shirt and the cardigan match eachother as well as go along with the shade of your purse. One of the greatest mistakes anyone can make, is not accessorizing to match!

Step 4) Wear it!
This step is self-explanatory. Once you are happy with the way your outfit is stacked, you have to show it off. Whether that is posting an Instagram outfit of the day, or going to the movies/shopping with friends, whatever you want to do, definitely wear it. Fashion without confidence is like going shopping without money. It’s a must have. Clothes look best on women/ladies that have confidence.

If you wish to see some of the ways I’ve recreated my favorite pinterest outfits, let me know in the comments!
I’d love to show you what I’ve done with some of them!
Happy Thursday!
xoxo,
